Giving FAQ

Q: How do I receive a tax deductible receipt?

All you need is a donor number available from .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) or by contacting the office. Once you receive that, we will mail you a tax-deductible receipt in early May each year for the previous financial year. This applies to giving through electronic means or via envelope in our offering bag.

Q: How much am I able to claim? As from 1st April 2008, the amount you claim back has positively changed.

The maximum refund limit has been lifted for charitable donations. Now you'll be able to give more and still receive a refund. [Read the details] Previously, no matter how much you donated, a $630 refund was the most you could get. This change means that next year when you complete your claim form, you can claim a refund (tax credits) of one-third of every dollar you donate, up to the amount of your income. Example: Kath donates $10,000 to charitable organizations. Her taxable income for the 2008-09 year is $40,000. Kath will be able to claim a refund of $3,333 which is one-third of her $10,000 donation.

Q: Is my giving confidential?

We are very careful with our giving records. Only those who physically handle the money and provide receipts have access to such records. Our pastoral staff do not see records of what people give at Mt Albert Baptist Church.

Q: Can I designate my electronic gift to a special purpose?

Yes, you can designate your donation to any approved fund that we have, such as General Fund, Helping Hand, and Global Missions.

Q: My question is not listed here, now what?

Please email any questions to our finance person, Cheng Collinson, at .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) or contact her at the church office.
