Stories of Impact
The responsibility we feel with the money that is invested in what God is doing through Mt Albert Baptist is taken very seriously. Our goal is to use the money in ways that will make the most impact in the lives of people in our church, in our community, and around the world. On a regular basis we want to give you a snapshot of some of the things that God is doing with your investment. Thanks for your commitment and generosity.
Youth
Over the recent Easter weekend 35 of our young people travelled to Mystery Creek for The Baptist Easter Camp. This was an awesome opportunity for fellowship amongst our youth, for meeting new people, and for experiencing God. Many of our youth made a new, or reaffirmed an old, commitment to God. Our leaders were excellent at discussing issues with the youth and also encouraging everyone to have a fun time!! The youth group were a pleasure to be with, grow with and have fun with! We are so blessed to have such amazing and mature young people in our church!
Young Adults
Our young adults have been focussing on mission the last couple of months. We have been intentionally viewing our weeks as opportunities to bless people in our communities. There have been loads of inspirational stories coming out of our group so I will share one with you as an example. One of our young adults has been making an effort to talk to people she comes into contact with. She asks shop assistants how their days are going, and people on the bus how they actually are. You wouldn't believe the conversations she has and she has realised that people just want to be listened to and treated with respect and she wants to be Christ to people in this way, showing that Christians truly do care about people and treat them with the dignity that they deserve, being made in the image of God. Our young adults are gaining a purpose to their lives and it is awesome to see!
MABC Outreach Singers – The Grey Warblers
This choir of fourteen singers from Mt Albert Baptist was formed to take a programme of songs and humorous items to local rest homes and retirement villages, as a way of showing the love of God to others. Most of the singers are older, retired people, hence the name Grey Warblers. So far we have sung at Lexham Gardens, Aranui and Powley. We have thoroughly enjoyed practising the music together, and have loved presenting our programme. The singers have been well received, and have felt blessed to serve God and the people we sing for.
