Join us for a Christmas feast

Posted by MAB

We’re kicking off our Christmas festivities with a free community lunch before the big day, to make sure everyone has a chance to celebrate this season.

MAB is inviting people who would like to celebrate Christmas with their community to a lunch on Saturday Dec 23 at noon, in the Mt Albert Baptist church lounge.

This is the second year that Mt Albert’s Amy Crerar, 19, is organising the lunch with her dad David.

The idea came about when Amy realised there are many people in the neighbourhood who may not have an opportunity to celebrate Christmas. She approached Mt Albert Baptist lead pastor Steve Worsley with the idea, and the rest is history!

“It is all well and good to celebrate Christmas with familiar faces, but what about those people who have been cut off from their community - the beggar on the side of the road, the folks who struggle to find any reason to celebrate?” she says.

“This open-invite Christmas lunch provides an opportunity for people to enjoy a meal with others without the usual stress. They can just turn up!”

Last year more than 50 people came to the free Christmas dinner held at MAB, and Amy says there’s already been a lot of interest in this year’s event.

MAB’s free community Christmas Lunch is held on Saturday Dec 23 at noon in the church lounge.

All food and drinks provided – please be aware no alcohol is allowed at the venue.

(MAB is at 732 New North Rd)
