What we stand for

Mt Albert Baptist welcomes everyone and anyone be part of our church community.

We love being a multi-cultural bunch of all ages and stages of faith, from those exploring Christianity to others who’ve been walking the talk for years.

We invite you to come as you are, but not stay as you are – we want our lives to be transformed by Jesus. That’s why Mt Albert Baptist is a place to connect, grow, serve and give.

We like to make a difference by engaging with the world around us so that others can experience God’s love. Each year we run events in our community which span from our Global Cafe Nights to our International Street Food Festival.

Come as you are to Mt Albert Baptist on Sundays at 9am and 11am.

How it all began

Mt Albert Baptist began over a century ago, when two enterprising 24 year-olds decided to start a new church to impact the local community.

It took guts and passion for good friends Ross Penman and Harvey Turner to start a church in the early 1900s.  They could see that the Mt Albert population was growing, and more people wanted to go to church locally.  Their vision to serve the community quickly caught on, and they were able to pool resources with other families to buy land (at four pounds an acre!) and build the first church hall.  And so Mt Albert Baptist was officially constituted in September 1915 with 21 founding members who gathered regularly for Bible based teaching and community work.

Fast forward more than 100 years, and to this day their vision lives on with 300+ people calling Mt Albert Baptist their home church.
